HBU Students Selected for the 2025 China Association for Science and Technology's Doctoral Special Program under the Young Sci-Tech Talent Cultivation
Recently, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced the list of candidates selected for the 2025 Doctoral Special Program under the Young Sci-Tech Talent Cultivation Project. After a rigorous process involving individual applications, school recommendations, university evaluations, provincial CAST reviews and nominations, and final approval by CAST, five doctoral candidates from our university were successfully selected.
The Doctoral Special Program under the CAST Young Sci-Tech Talent Cultivation Project (formerly the CAST Young Talent Support Program Doctoral Special Initiative) is a key initiative by CAST to support the national strategy of strengthening the country through talent and enhance the foundational cultivation of young sci-tech talents. Aligned with the goal of building China into a leading sci-tech powerhouse by 2035, this special program innovates mechanisms for discovering, selecting, and cultivating young sci-tech talents. It targets senior doctoral candidates under the age of 30, aiming to address national strategic needs, support the growth of outstanding doctoral candidates, and accelerate the development of innovative young sci-tech talents.
In 2025, this program expanded for the first time to include talent nominations from local universities. Our university attached great importance to this nomination process. The Graduate Student Affairs Office/Graduate School and the Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute, in accordance with CAST’s documents and guidelines, formulated a nomination plan, rigorously reviewed application materials, standardized the nomination procedures, and ensured the process was scientific, transparent, and fair. The successful selection of our five doctoral candidates marks a milestone achievement in the university’s commitment to advancing graduate education reform and fostering a nurturing environment for high-quality doctoral training. Taking this opportunity, we will focus on the growth needs of young talents, integrate premium resources to establish high-level professional practice platforms, and provide tailored, personalized support for their development. By doing so, we aim to continuously stimulate innovative thinking and academic potential among graduate students, empowering them to delve deeply into their studies and hone their skills in the land of Hebei, ultimately growing into outstanding innovative talents capable of shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation.
