On July 4, the signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement between Hebei University and Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) was held at Hebei University. President Meng Qingyu of Hebei University and Dr. Tong Ka Lok, Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology and Member of the Standing Committee of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), jointly attended the ceremony and signed the cooperation and exchange agreement. Vice President Zhang Yangjian of Hebei University, Dean Du Ruizhong of the School of Cyber Security and Computer Science, and Dean Prof. Cai Zhanchuan of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at M.U.S.T. jointly signed the Letter of Intent for Cooperation in the Field of Computer Science. Fan Sheling, Director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese of the Hebei Provincial CPPCC, and Dong Peng, Deputy Director, witnessed the signing ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yangjian.

President Meng Qingyu extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Macau University of Science and Technology and expressed sincere gratitude to the Hebei Provincial CPPCC for its long-standing support and assistance to Hebei University. He noted that Macau University of Science and Technology, while firmly rooted in the motherland, maintains strong global connections, with advanced educational philosophies, a broad international perspective, and vibrant research and innovation. He stated that the joint signing of the cooperation and exchange agreement and the letter of intent in computer science represents not only a reunion to renew friendship and foster mutual learning, but also an opportunity to deepen collaboration and plan for a shared future. He expressed the hope that the two universities would build bridges of exchange centered on joint talent cultivation, drive academic innovation through collaborative research, and use cultural integration as a bond to tell China’s story well. He looked forward to producing more fruitful outcomes in talent development, research and innovation, cultural exchange, and social service, jointly contributing to the high-quality development of higher education and offering the wisdom and strength of universities to serve national strategies, empower regional development, and deepen Hebei-Macao cooperation.

Dr. Tong Ka Lok expressed his gratitude for Hebei University’s warm hospitality and provided a detailed introduction to the development history, academic disciplines, and program offerings of Macau University of Science and Technology. He noted that Hebei University has a profound historical heritage, comprehensive disciplinary coverage, and notable achievements in internationalization. He pointed out that the two universities share a solid foundation for cooperation, with enormous potential for future collaboration in cross-border education, joint research, research commercialization, faculty and student exchanges, and international conferences. He expressed his expectation for close communication and strengthened ties between the two institutions, with the aim of expanding cooperation into more areas and achieving greater outcomes, jointly advancing the high-quality development of both universities.

Subsequently, the two sides held in-depth discussions on joint talent cultivation, research cooperation, and faculty and student exchanges, reaching broad consensus on multiple fronts. Both parties expressed their intention to take this signing as an opportunity to strengthen communication, expand areas of exchange, and advance concrete cooperation in a pragmatic manner.

Prior to the ceremony, the delegation from Macau University of Science and Technology and the Hebei Provincial CPPCC visited the History Museum of Hebei University.

Representatives from the President’s Office, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences, the School of History, the School of Economics, the School of Management, and the School of International Exchange and Education of Hebei University, along with personnel from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, the Hengqin Research Institute, and the International College of M.U.S.T., as well as officials from the Office of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese of the Hebei Provincial CPPCC, attended the event.
