Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment and the Hebei Provincial Department of Education jointly issued a notice summarizing the implementation of the 2025 series of themed activities on ecological and environmental education. The proposal titled “Ecological Civilization Investigation and Practice in the Baiyangdian Watershed of Baoding: Integrating Water and City, Empowering with Red Culture,” completed by Hebei University’s Baiyangdian Near-Natural Restoration Technology Service Team from the Department of Ecology and Environment, was successfully selected as an “Award-Winning Proposal for Social Practice Activities on Ecological Civilization,” ranking among the top ten outstanding proposals in the province.

Centered on the theme “Guarding Baiyangdian in the Capital Region Under the Party Flag, Nurturing Clear Waters for Xiong’an,” the service team has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directive to “restore and protect Baiyangdian” and has fully leveraged the spirit of the “Huang Danian-style Teaching Team” and the political leadership of the “National Model Party-Building Branch.” These efforts have driven the deep integration of Party building with scientific research and practical work. In 2025, the service team collaborated closely with the Xiong’an New Area Ecological Environment Monitoring Center to conduct systematic ecological surveys of the entire Baiyangdian area and its major inflow and outflow rivers across spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The surveys covered a water area of 366 square kilometers, with 74 monitoring points established, involving a cumulative total of 720 faculty and student participants. The team traveled 7,650 kilometers, collecting 3,650 ecological and environmental samples, and built a comprehensive ecological baseline database for Baiyangdian. Through these actions, the team has actively safeguarded the “Kidney of North China” and vividly embodied the mission of “writing research papers on the land of our motherland.”

This honor fully recognizes the Department of Ecology and Environment’s commitment to actively studying and implementing the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Party, serving major national strategies, and dedicating efforts to the forefront of ecological civilization construction. The department has long adhered to the educational approach of “bringing teaching to villages and lakesides, integrating research into lotus ponds and reed fields,” not only providing solid scientific support for the ecological protection of Baiyangdian but also demonstrating the practical outcomes of integrating education, technology, and talent development.
