Dr. Tiago of Hebei University Won Yanzhao Friendship Award

20 foreign experts in HebeiProvince were honored with the title “Yanzhao Friendship Award” at the presentation ceremony which was sponsored by The People’s Government of Hebei Province at 6 pm, 9th December in Shijiangzhuang to commend their contribution to economic and social development of Hebei province. Xu Qin, governor of Hebei province, presented medals and certificates to these experts. Tiago Carlos Adorno de Freitas from Brazil won the honor for Hebei University.

Xu Qin expressed warm congratulations and heartfelt thanks to the award-winning experts on behalf of Hebei Provincial Party Committee, The People’s Government of Hebei Province and Wang Dongfeng, Secretary of Hebei Provincial Party Committee. He also said that President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to foreign talents and emphasizes that we should bring in talents regardless of nationalities, try the best to train talents and employ talents upon their different specialities and situations. We also need to deepen mutual tolerance, mutual teaching and connection with the countries all over the world, from which attract talent to employ. At the presentation ceremony, Xu Qin shook hands with Tiago friendly, awarding him the medal of honor and certificate. After receiving the award, Tiago gave a speech. He said, he would value this honor and keep working hard to devote himself to enhancing the research ability of Hebei University in theoretical physics, making every effort to deepen academic communication and cooperation among China, Brazil and Russia.

On the morning of 9th, Tiago together with officers of International Cooperation Office attended a forum for foreign experts arranged by Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs of Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology, whose chief Wang Zhongqun presided over the forum. Wang Zhongqun extended warm congratulations to award-winning experts and their work units, encouraged them to make more contributions to the development and future of Hebei Province.

“Yanzhao Friendship Award” is the ultimate accolade for foreign experts presented by The People’s Government of Hebei Province. 259 foreign experts have won the award since 2002, including 11 experts form Hebei university. Tiago Carlos Adorno de Freitas, the latest award winner from Hebei University, is working for College of Physical Science and Technology. His current research interests focus on two correlated branches of quantum field theory, namely the vacuum instability and the vacuum polarization caused by strong electromagnetic backgrounds in quantum electrodynamics (QED).
