HBU and the Confucius Institute at Xavier University Set Up a Platform for Classroom Observation and Learning

Recently, the College of International Exchange and Education / Confucius Institute Center and the Confucius Institute of HBU at Xavier University in Louisiana, USA jointly organized a three-week online observation and learning of real-time Chinese classes. It aims to cultivate the postgraduates majoring in international education of Chinese language.

In this activity, more than 40 postgraduates majoring in international education of Chinese language attended online Chinese classes of Tulane University, Xavier University and Audubon Elementary School in New Orleans, Louisiana, for a total of eight times to learn the knowledge and classroom management skills from the first-rate international Chinese classes.The Chinese teachers in the United States impressed the students deeply with their teaching methods, appealing teaching contents, relaxing and joyful classroom atmosphere and practice-based teaching interaction. Students said that the real-time observation and learning of first-rate Chinese classes in the United States had improved their theoretical knowledge and practical teaching ability of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

The real-time online observation of Chinese classroom is one of the activities of the Confucius Institute Center’s “14th Five-Year Plan” opening project, entitled “Targeted Innovation and Development of International Chinese Online Education”. It is a positive initiative to cultivate international Chinese teachers and promote Chinese language in this new situation. It is also a new attempt to deepen the cooperation, exchange and mutual assistance between our university and the host institutions of the Confucius Institute.
