The 10th China-Latin America High-level Academic Forum was Successfully Held

On September 26-27, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of HBU, the 10th China-Latin America High-level Academic Forum & Future-oriented New Development Agenda and China-Latin America Cooperation seminar was held online. It was hosted by the Instituto de America Latina Academia China de Ciencias Sociales, and overseas cooperation agencies include the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Chile, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina, and University of San Diego in Chile. More than 50 experts and scholars from China, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Mexico and other countries attended the meeting.

The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Wang Rongjun, Secretary of the Instituto de America Latina Academia China de Ciencias Sociales. Professor Shen Shigang, vice president of HBU, Professor Fernando Reyes Matta, director of the Center for Chinese Studies at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Chile, and researcher Chai Yu, the director of Instituto de America Latina Academia China de Ciencias Sociales delivered speeches respectively. Then, researcher Yan Kun, deputy dean of the National Academy of Economic Strategy, CASS, and Professor Luis Antonio Paulino of the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, have respectively given keynote reports on the topics of “Sustainable Development of China’s Finance in the Fourteenth Five-Year Period” and “The Implementation of Brazil’s 5G Technology and Brazil’s Foreign Policy”.

The forum focused on the theme of “Future-oriented New Development Agenda and China-Latin America Cooperation”. More than 20 Chinese and foreign experts discussed in four categories: “Digital One Belt One Road”, “Sustainable Development and the 2030 Agenda”, “Poverty Reduction”, “Innovation, Society and the Future”. Professor Yan Yi, director of the Latin American Research Center of HBU, presided over the academic discussion of the second unit. The Latin American Research Center participated in the preparations for the forum and played an active role as a think tank in international academic exchanges and cooperation.
