Hebei University Held “Province of Zuid-Holland and Hebei Province Climate Adaptation Webinar”

On the afternoon of December 1st, the Province of Zuid-Holland and Hebei Province Climate Adaptation Webinar was held online at Hebei University on Wusi Road. Guests include Jeannette Baljeu, vice-governor of the province of Zuid-Holland, Shen Shigang, standing member of the Hebei University Party Committee and vice-president at Hebei University, Pan Zenghui, director of Water Resources Institute of Hebei Academy of Water Resources, and Bart Pauwels,counselor for Infrastructure and Water Management at the Dutch Embassy in China, attended this webinar. Persons in charge from Hebei Academy of Water Resources, Deltares, Wageningen University, the European Green City Foundation, the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the College of Ecology and Environment, and the International Cooperation Office in Hebei University attended this meeting.

Firstly, Shen Shigang delivered a keynote speech, pointing out that as friendly provinces, the cooperation between Hebei University and Holland is an important part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Hebei province and province of Zuid-Holland from 2021 to 2025, which is also included in major cooperation projects. It is hoped that all parties can deeply explore and expand the cooperation model, set a global example for international scientific research cooperation in climate and ecological environment development, so as to make contributions to the urban development and ecological civilization progress of our province and province of Zuid-Holland. Jeannette Baljeu, vice-governor of the province of Zuid-Holland, and Bart Pauwels, counselor for Infrastructure and Water Management at the Dutch Embassy in China also made speeches. They extended congratulations upon the opening of the webinar and gave high hopes for the international scientific research cooperation of all parties.

Secondly, many invited scholars delivered professional presentations on environment and water resources, including Tjitte Nauta, regional manager of Asia at Deltares, Yang Sanqiang, the vice-dean of Hebei University department of Architecture, Sun Qingjiu, a teacher of Hebei University, Thomas Wagener and Momo Chen, researchers at Wageningen University, Wang Hongjie, the Dean of Hebei University department of Ecological Environment, Wang Boxin, a researcher at Hebei Institute of Water Science, and Nan Su, director of the European Green City Foundation. They gave professional presentations on water management, smart cities, AquaConnect project, water pollution issues, regional precipitation change, green city development, and other related topics, and shared the advanced experience of China and Holland.

At last, Joost Damen, director-general Water & Green at the province of Zuid-Holland made a dosing speech, in which expressed the hope that all parties participating in the meeting continue to strengthen exchanges in the future and achieve more research achievements through expanding multilateral cooperation.
