The Delegation from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology visited HBU

    Professor IIDA Hiroyuki, the vice president of Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, led a delegation of 3 members to visit HBU on the morning of March 28th, 2023. Shen Shigang, as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of HBU and the vice president of HBU, met with the delegation.

 

    Shen Shigang extended a warm welcome to them and introduced the basic situation of HBU, including its historical development, talent cultivation, scientific research, foreign exchange and other aspects. IIDA Hiroyuki expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of HBU and introduced the situation of Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, including its subject setting, scientific research ability, and international exchange. He also expressed the desire to further promote the cooperation between the two universities based on the agreement.

 

    Subsequently, the two sides had in-depth discussions on the content of teacher visiting, scientific research cooperation, academic exchange, long-term and short-term students exchange and jointly cultivating postgraduates through dual tutor (Chinese and foreign tutors) system, and finally reached a preliminary agreement on related cooperation planned to be conducted in the near future. Comrades in charge of School of Life Sciences, College of Mathematics and Information Science, College of Electronic and Information Engineering, School of Foreign Studies, College of Chemistry and Materials Science, College of Physics Science and Technology, Office of International Cooperation and other departments of HBU also attended the meeting.

 

Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(JAIST) was founded in 1990. As a national university focusing on the cultivation of postgraduates in Japan, it aims to be the world-class higher education and research institute. It has a number of key subjects receiving adequate support from the Japan government and the research on some subjects, including information science, materials chemistry, artificial intelligence, numerical mathematics, enjoys a high international reputation.
