On June 3, a recital of The Book of Odes presented by over 60 students from the broadcast and hosting art group of HBU was successfully held in the Ancient Lotus Pond, kicking off the Lotus Pond 2023 Poetry Festival. The recital was hosted by HBU Lotus Pond Academy, co-organized by Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau of Baoding Province as well as Baoding Education Bureau, and strongly supported by China Book Company, Baoding News Media Center (Group) at the same time.

As one of the signature cultural events launched by HBU Lotus Pond Academy, the recital implemented the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection in Hebei and at the symposium on cultural inheritance and development, creatively polished the cultural brand and upgrade the cultural taste of Lotus Pond Academy with wonderful integration of natural environment, original verses, and modern translation thanks to the guidance of faculties of the Department of Broadcasting and the research team of ancient literature. In the recital, 8 famous odes, namely, Guan Ju, Mu Gua, Tao Yao, The Deer Song, The Rat, Cai Wei, Si Qi, had been delivered by students in the pavilion and on the bridge. They dressed themselves in ancient costumes and recited the odes following ancient rituals, which, together with the poetic scenery in the lotus pond, successfully visualized, and exposed the audience as well, to the beauty of The Book of Odes.

The recital featured online and offline integration, attracting nearly 1,000 viewers at the event and nearly 60,000 viewers in the webcast room. In the near future, Lotus Pond Academy will continue to hold a series of high-level cultural activities such as the Lotus Pond Poetry Festival, Lotus Pond Literature Week, and Poetry Night. Hopefully, contributions will be made in building Baoding cultural landmarks, enhancing coordinated cultural development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and promoting socialist culture construction.
