HBU Held Project Proposal Defense Meeting for “Research on Statistics and Evaluation of Libraries in the Era of Digital Intelligence”

On March 16th, the proposal defense meeting for the major National Social Science Fund project “Research on Statistics and Evaluation of Libraries in the Era of Digital Intelligence” was held at the Qiyi Road campus of Hebei University, presided over by Professor Jin Shengyong from the School of Management. Zhang Feng, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President, and Yang Wenjie, Dean of the School of Management, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Jinhong, Dean of the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences.

 

Zhang Feng extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the attending experts on behalf of the university and congratulated them on the establishment of the “Research on Statistics and Evaluation of Libraries in the Era of Digital Intelligence” project. He introduced the achievements of our university in the construction of information resource management disciplines, pointing out that the approval of this project represents another breakthrough for Hebei University's social science research in national major projects and signifies that the development of the university's philosophy and social sciences has reached a new level. Yang Wenjie emphasised that the research for this project requires full integration of various resources and leveraging team collaboration advantages to ensure the efficient advancement and high-quality completion of the study. He expressed hope that the research team would utilise the platform advantages of interdisciplinary integration, strengthening cooperation and exchanges with high-level research institutions both domestically and internationally, and strive to achieve breakthrough progress in key areas.

 

The defence was chaired by Professor Ni Xiaojian, former Director of the Capital Library. Chief expert Professor Jin Shengyong provided a comprehensive report on the basic situation of the project, design validation, research plan, and expected research outcomes. The leaders of the sub-projects reported on the core issues, research content, and progress of each sub-project. Subsequently, evaluative experts including Professor Ke Ping from Nankai University Business School, Professor Zhu Qinghua from Nanjing University School of Information Management, Professor Zhang Jiuzhen, Director of the Information Management Department at Peking University, Research Fellow Shen Xiaojuan, Director of the National Library of China's Research Institute, Professor Cao Shujin, Dean of the School of Information Management at Shandong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Xu Jianmin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Hebei University reviewed the projects.

 

The expert panel provided positive evaluations of the project’s research framework, sub-project settings, research content, theoretical innovations, and practical value, offering opinions and suggestions regarding the project’s positioning and focus, technological applications and innovations, outcome orientation and landmark achievements, project organisation and collaboration, as well as evaluation indicators and data collection.
