HBU Wins Award at the 3rd “China–Latin America: Close Neighbors Across the Seas” Short Video Competition
On September 8, the award ceremony for the 3rd “China–Latin America: Close Neighbors Across the Seas” Short Video Competition and the opening ceremony of the 3rd Training Program for Self-Media Opinion Leaders from Latin American and Caribbean Countries were held in Beijing. The event, themed “Development, Revitalization, and Shared Destiny,” used “Bonds of the Heart” as an emotional link to connect the past and future of China–Latin America exchanges. More than 530 entries from China and 26 Latin American and Caribbean countries were submitted, achieving over 235 million total views; a single overseas entry reached a maximum of 2.34 million views.
The program included a cultural interaction market, the award ceremony, cultural performances, and the training program opening. At the awards segment, Professor Zhai Hong from Hebei University’s Latin American Studies Center received the bronze prize and accepted the certificate alongside other winners, including Marco Rejas from Bolivia and Elcy Ann Hari from Guyana. Professor Zhai also spoke as a Chinese award representative. Ambassador of Guyana to China Zhou Yaxin and Zhang Run, Director-General of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of strengthening China–Latin America cultural exchanges and media cooperation. Hebei University received the competition’s “Outstanding Organization Award.”
This event fully reflected the notable achievements of the university’s faculty in China–Latin America cultural exchange and showcased the university’s active efforts in international exchange and regional and country-specific studies.
