The new teaching building of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries was officially launched

On the morning of November 11, the launching ceremony of the new building of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries was held at C5, Qiyi East Road Campus. Kang Le, President of Hebei University, Graham Baldwin, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire, Shen Shigang and Meng Qingyu, standing committee member of the CPC Hebei University Committee and vice president of Hebei University, Li Shoumin, Director of International Office of Hebei Education Department, Paul Rowe, Director of International Office of the University of Central Lancashire, and Jane Anthony, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Culture and the Creative Industries of the University of Central Lancashire, attended the launching ceremony. Li Xiaoliu, Director of the International Office of Hebei University, Zhang Feng, Dean of academic affairs of Hebei University, Lju Yi, Dean of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries, Melinda Tan, Director of Business Development of the University of Central Lancashire, Sion Hughes, Academic Head & Vice Dean for HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communications and Creative Industries, and teachers and students representatives from HBU-UCLan School joined the launching ceremony.

Academician Kang Le, President of Hebei University, delivered a speech in English at the ceremony. He extended a warm welcome to Graham Baldwin, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire, and the other officials, and pointed out that Hebei University had been always attaching great importance to international exchanges and cooperation. HBU has established international exchanges and strategic cooperation with more than 100 universities in the world. The results of in-depth cooperation between Hebei University and the University of Central Lancashire are the most prominent. With the joint support of the two universities, HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries has achieved fruitful results in running Sino-Foreign cooperative school and widely accepted by society. The launch of the new teaching building is a new starting point for Hebei University to insist on opening education and deepening international cooperation. He hoped that the two universities would continue to deepen cooperation and move forward hand in hand to jointly promote the international strategic development.

Professor Graham Baldwin, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire, pointed out in his speech that this was his first visit to Hebei University since he was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire. Over the past few years, international exchanges and cooperation between the two universities were carried out in-depth. The HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries developed rapidly with fruitful results. He stressed that the University of Central Lancashire would further deepen and strengthen its cooperation with Hebei University in education and scientific research, and jointly promote the construction and development of disciplines between the two universities.

The HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2013. It is a Sino-Foreign cooperative School with a non-independent legal person and jointly organized by Hebei University and the University of Central Lancashire. The school adopts a 4+0 training model and all the courses are conducted in English. Students who complete all the courses and pass examinations will receive bachelor's degrees from Hebei University and the University of Central Lancashire. With the mission of cultivating innovative talents, the school provides students with a talent training platform with the characteristics of Chinese and English language learning environment, Chinese and foreign cultural integration and close cooperation between universities and enterprises and trains international talents in the field of media and creativity with globalized vision, solid theoretical basis and excellent practical ability. The school has achieved remarkable results. The students have won the D&AD Awards, Times Young Creative Awards, awards of Shanghai College Students Advertising Festival and other important professional awards at home and abroad. More than ten national-level projects for innovation and entrepreneurship of university students have been approved by the Ministry of Education. The acceptance rate of postgraduate from the two graduating classes is more than 55%. The graduates have been admitted by the Royal Academy of Art, University of the Arts London, University College London, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Communication University of China and other well-known domestic and foreign universities.
